FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Freedom Park to Open In Rhode Island

Locally Filmed Movie Expands Run, Accepted to Festival in Florida

Worcester, MA -- October 14, 2004 -- Due to a strong three week run at Showcase Cinemas Worcester North, in Worcester, MA, as well as a three week run at the Blackstone Valley 14: Cinema De Lux in Millbury, MA, National Amusements will open Freedom Park, the locally made, award winning, independent film shot in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, at Showcase Cinema Warwick in Warwick, Rhode Island on Friday, October 29th.

Freedom Park, a family comedy about two friends who move back to their hometown in Massachusetts and start a gambling ring on Little League baseball to pay off their Las Vegas gambling debt, was filmed entirely on location at homes, Little League fields, high schools, and local businesses in the fall of 2003. A scene was also filmed in Providence.

The film has received great reviews from critics, with Richard Duckett of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette giving it 4 stars and calling it “a fun ride for the entire family." In other reviews, The Boston Phoenix said "Freedom Park is top notch." The family comedy has been enjoyed by children as young as nine years old to seniors.

Featuring Boston Red Sox’ announcer Jerry Remy as the voice of the Freedom Park Little League, as well as Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher Luis Tiant, and former Boston Bruin/WAAF morning personality Lyndon Byers, Freedom Park also stars Matt MacDonald, Tim Fields, Andrea Ajemian, former Providence College coach Jon Rinaldo, and Getting out of Rhode Island star, Jeremy Banks. The film features over one hundred children from New England.

Freedom Park’s Providence based Art Directors/Associate Producers Doug Lloyd and Georgia Menides coordinated the on location shoot in Rhode Island. The character and feel of Providence resonates in Freedom Park through the film’s art direction, which was predominantly designed in the city. “There’s nothing like café hopping in Providence for inspiration when you’re creating your design list. Everywhere you look, there’s artistic detail.” says Menides.

“The month before we started production on Freedom Park, the Brown and RISD students returned to Providence.” Lloyd comments, “For us, that meant endless street sales and festivals usually coordinated by students and artists. At least a third of our costumes and props came from the streets of Providence.”

3 Souls Films has been self-distributing Freedom Park theatrically.  The movie, directed by Jon Artigo and Chad Meserve, was shot on the newest technology in digital video. “More and more theaters are adopting this technology in preparation for what the future holds in filmmaking,” says Executive Producer Victor J. Melfa Jr.  Producers are currently talking to potential national distributors regarding the future of Freedom Park, which has just been accepted to the Marco Island Film Festival in Marco Island, Florida.
