Freedom Park Scores Big at the Box Office
Locally Filmed Movie Back By Popular Demand
Worcester, MA -- September 17, 2004 -- Due to a strong opening weekend at the box office, Freedom Park, the locally made independent film shot in the Worcester area, will continue its run at Showcase Cinemas Worcester North for another two weeks, with the potential of a longer run. National Amusements will also open Freedom Park at the new Blackstone Valley 14: Cinema de Lux in Millbury on Friday, Sept. 24th.
The film has received great reviews from critics, with Richard Duckett of the Telegram and Gazette giving it 4 stars and calling it “a fun ride for the entire family." In other reviews, The Boston Phoenix said "Freedom Park is top notch."
“We are thrilled with the success we have seen this past week with the film,” stated Andrea Ajemian, one of the producers of the movie. “The great turnout we have seen at the theatre has been really gratifying and we hope that our run continues to be as successful going forward.”
The buzz surrounding Freedom Park extends beyond Showcase Cinemas. The filmmakers and cast members have been visiting elementary and middle schools in Central MA, giving hour-long presentations on filmmaking and showing scenes from the movie. Members of the cast will be attending screenings of the film at the theatres. Go to: www.freedomparkthemovie.com for more information.
