The Award Winning family comedy “Freedom Park,” filmed in Massachusetts, will premiere at Showcase Cinemas North in Worcester on Thursday, September 9th, 2004. The film opens at Showcase Cinemas North in Worcester as well as select theaters throughout Massachusetts, on Friday September 10, 2004. From 3 Souls Films and Ludicrous Productions, “Freedom Park,” a story about two guys who start a gambling ring on Little League baseball to pay off their Las Vegas gambling debt, is set in the fictional town of Freedom Park, Massachusetts. The movie was filmed entirely on location at homes, Little League fields, high schools, and local businesses throughout the central and metro-west parts of the state in fall of 2003. The movie features Boston Red Sox’ announcer Jerry Remy as the voice of the Freedom Park Little League, as well as former Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher Luis Tiant, former Boston Bruin/WAAF morning personality Lyndon Byers, and WTAG morning show host Hank Stolz. Former Worcester Chief of Police, Edward Gardella, a seasoned actor, plays the crime boss Tommy the Goat. Over 80 local child actors and athletes appear in the film that stars Matt McDonald, Tim Fields, Andrea Ajemian, Peter Talieri, and child star Brendon Boyd of Worcester.
3 Souls Films, the company who brings you the follow up to Ludicrous Production’s Award Winning “Rutland, USA,” has begun self-distributing “Freedom Park” theatrically. The movie, directed by Jon Artigo and Chad Meserve, was shot on the newest technology in digital video and will be shown in theaters through a digital projector, rather than on film. “More and more theaters are adopting this technology in preparation for what the future holds in filmmaking,” says Executive Producer Victor J. Melfa Jr. Theater owners throughout the state as well as festival audiences believe that “Freedom Park” is the kind of family comedy missing from theaters these days. Producers anticipate a successful theatrical run in Massachusetts, and television and film distributors have already showed interest.
3 Souls Films is currently in development on “El Tiante” The Luis Tiant Story, and in post- production on “The Green House Girls,” a documentary road trip film about women.
