Thank you for looking into the movie "Freedom Park". My name is Jon Artigo (writer/director). I added this page to give parents an idea of what to expect from this movie. This movie is family oriented. There is no profanity anywhere in this film. Given that hundreds of kids appear in "Freedom Park" It was really important to me that everyone could enjoy it. Some of the humor might be too silly at times for adults and some of the adult situations might be a bit boring for kids, but it is a good mix.
I have always felt that typical family films don't deliver on much content. I've seen many of them. I just wanted to create a family movie that parents would enjoy watching with their kids so that it truly is a family movie. I wanted to point out a few things of note in the movie just so you can be somewhat aware of it's content:
- There are a couple slaps in the movie- nothing violent. Some Vegas thugs come to town and I had to think of creative ways to show their power without getting violent. The few slaps in this film are very "tongue and cheek" -- no pun intended. No blood is spilled or seen.
- The closest thing to swearing is a "He sucks"- referring to a baseball player not pulling his weight. Just want to be honest. That's as bad as it gets.
- There is nothing sexual in this film whatsoever. The romantic leads kiss at one time and that's it.
- There is no drug use in this movie. There is one reference to "Drinking punch and smoking turkey," but it is meant to be more odd than anything and would clearly go over the kids heads.
- There is some very limited gun use in the movie. No one is ever shot or shot at. The police officer is the only one who ever actually points the gun at someone.
I covered violence, swearing, sexuality, and drug use. We have shown it to lots of families during our test audience stage and had no complaints about content. It is a fun look at a fictitious town where good morals prevail in the end. If you have any further questions about the content of this film please email me and ask any questions directly.
Thank you and I hope to see you... at the movies,
